Inner Flame
In today’s society, women are beginning to take back our voices and prove that we shouldn’t be ashamed of how we look, dress, act, or believe in. I want to capture the strength and power that women today have no fear showing. Hearing these types of ladies in the media inspire me to have confidence in myself and my abilities. I want to give women a figure they can see themselves in that mirrors their inner goddess or warrior. I’ve always struggled with my own self-confidence and self-esteem, feeling as if I don’t have what it takes to accomplish my goals. I want myself and others to look at this painting and know it’s a reflection of them and how they should see themselves. I’ve learned over the years that negative self-talk and doubt will get me nowhere so I must have confidence to go after the things I want and put my all into achieving my goals. I still struggle with my self-image, telling myself I’m not good enough or there will always be others better than me. I can’t continue to think that way and I hate the fact that I’m not the only one who does. My hope with this painting is to have other women see it and understand that they do have the strength and abilities to accomplish their goals and others that doubt them or discourage them don’t matter as long as they believe in their own manifested ambition.
